A big hello to my new followers!

Not a lot of jewellery making going on at the moment; alas it’s all about the paper work these days.  I’m developing workshop idea’s with ‘Make Do Mend’ who cater to the craft hen party market as well as putting on creative classes and workshops.

I’m not sure if it’s a UK Southeast thing or there’s a general resurgence worldwide but I went to a hen party a few years ago which started with afternoon tea and an embroidery lesson (followed by dinner and boozing) - I went in thinking I was ‘too cool for this school’ but ended up a total convert.  Sitting around nattering to friends, making new acquaintances, drinking wine and learning a new craft is a great way to spend time.

So today I’m full steam ahead making vintage inspired bracelets that I deem easy enough for the masses to make. Then I’ll be making fresh flower buttonholes, corsages and hair circlets and taking pictures for the website.

Trawling through my photo collection for craft related images, I changed my mind when I came across these - taken of Emma Richardson (Bass and Vocals) of Band of Skulls.  Got to the gig late but as no one else had the forethought to stand by the speaker stack to the right of the stage (earplugs are your friend) I assumed a front row position with the greatest of ease.  Rock n Roll Baby!

Off on another little tangent here…

A friend told me once that the recipe for a great life is to define the things you love then make a career out of it.  I’ve got the first part of that equation sorted, the making a career out of it is still a dream.

The 3 main things that make me happy are… making music/singing, pottering in my workshop with jewellery and appreciating street art.

  • My latest songs with the Sekforde Project can be listened to here. My bandmate list’s it as Upbeat, funky, dark, electro, dance - which is a better box than I could fit it in.
  • These graffiti pictures were snapped on a trip home to Auckland (New Zealand) many years ago, they were taken in Ponsonby.
  • …it’s a jewellery blog - but not as you know it!

So this is a bit of a tangent but as well as making jewellery, my other passion is music. I sing and write songs with my friend David. We’re called The Sekforde Project and this is our latest tune.

I guess its kind of electro, indie, house(??)

This blog started as a mid life crisis; quitting my safe, office management job (mid-recession) to figure out jewellery design and make a business out of it. It’s still about that, though the journey it’s taking me on is also filled with music, street art, quirky London inspirations and personal growth – I started from the ground, but I’m working my way up!
